Chris Colfer signs copies of his new book at Barnes & Noble, Los Angeles, July 26, 2012
Chris’ printed shoes from his latest signing at The Grove immediately caught our eyes, and we soon found out they were actually made just for him by a fan! The very talented dontturnitoff kindly shared with Fashion of Glee how she made them.
The base shoes were simple black oxfords from Asos. Then, pages from Alison Weir’s history “The Princes in the Tower” (Chris being a history buff and all) were decoupaged onto the back half of the shoes. Finally, the laces were replaced with electric blue ones by Cole Haan.
After making a pair for her son, who loved them, she decided to make a pair for Chris, and presented them to him at his book signing in Manhattan. There’s a picture of the finished shoes at dontturnitoff’s blog, here! What a fantastic project!
Apart from your own special text, and an adhesive such as Mod Podge, here’s what you’ll need:
Asos Derby Shoes With Leather Sole And Rope Insert - $54.68
Cole Haan Round Lace in ‘Caribbean Blue’ - $7.00
Worn with: Ben Sherman shirt, Guardian Angel token, J Brand jeans
10 Free vintage printable paper dolls from http://blogs.babble.com/the-new-home-ec/2012/07/11/10-free-printable-paper-dolls/
Beware of TLOS spoilers!
This has been a labor of love that started about two weeks ago. It is a handmade keychain of the 8 items needed for the wishing spell :). Naturally I took a few liberties for the sake of the keychain, but I tried to stay as faithful as possible, all the way down to a “stony crown” lol. I gave one of these to him at the Naperville, IL book signing.
Thanks go to my sister for her help in assembling and general brainstorming.
